We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Estimating Assistant to join our team to work out of our Eagle, Idaho office. This position offers hands-on experience in cost estimation, bid preparation, and project analysis for underground construction projects. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, has strong analytical skills, and is interested in pursuing a career in construction management or cost estimation.
PRIMARY DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Assist with document management between project managers and field crews.
· Assist in preparing cost estimates for underground construction projects by analyzing project plans, specifications, and other documentation.
· Support senior estimators in gathering and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotes.
· Compose Requests for Information (RFIs) through Procore software for submission to client.
· Collaborate with project managers and field teams to understand project scopes and requirements.
· Request material submittals from Talus vendors and compose packages for submission to clients
· Log material submittal approvals as they are issued and maintain log of what is outstanding
· Attend Virtual construction meetings as needed
· Verify material pricing as needed
· Track material delivery timelines with vendor coordination
· Provide administrative support for estimate processes, including organizing bid documents and schedules.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook);
· Familiarity with estimating software is a plus. Talus utilizes HCSS HeavyBid and On-Screen Takeoff by On Center
· Experience with Bluebeam or Autocad for plan page editing
· Experience with Procore document management
· Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
· Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
· Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
· Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as required.
· Basic knowledge of underground construction methods and materials.
