Join the vibrant and growing team at Voodoo Doughnut! We're on the lookout for a creative and dynamic Content Creator to help us grow our social media presence through engaging short-form video content. This role requires being on-site at our Portland, Oregon headquarters for planning and editing, as well as traveling to local Voodoo Doughnut locations to develop, film, and edit content for platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
This is a part-time contract role, averaging 20–25 hours per week over a 90-day period. Work will be split between planning/editing in the office and filming in-store. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and provides direct support to the Digital Marketing Manager.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling, an eye for emerging trends, and the confidence to appear on camera as a host when needed. You’ll split your time between office time (planning/editing) and in-store time (content creation) to bring the magic of Voodoo Doughnut to digital audiences.
Essential Duties:
- Film and edit a mix of pre-planned and real-time content, including behind-the-scenes footage, staff and community interviews, trend-led videos, and other short-form social content.
- Serve as an engaging on-camera host when needed, bringing energy and authenticity to the brand’s voice.
- Monitor cultural moments and social media trends, quickly identifying opportunities to create content that drives engagement.
- Produce videos optimized for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other platforms.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to align content with campaigns and initiatives.
- Maintain a consistent posting schedule and organize assets in a content calendar.
- Participate in brainstorming, research, and reporting sessions to generate fresh ideas for upcoming campaigns and activations.
Requirements:
- 1–3 years of experience creating short-form video content for brands or personal platforms.
- Comfortable editing with native mobile social tools (TikTok and Instagram); additional experience with Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or CapCut is a plus.
- Strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram Reels, and other social platforms.
- Comfortable being in front of the camera and hosting.
- Ability to work on-site at the Portland office and travel to local store locations.
- Strong creative vision, attention to detail, and storytelling skills.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate filming needs during store hours or events.
Physical Requirements:
- As part of this role, you will frequently work in a fast-paced kitchen and retail environment, rotating between our Portland office and local Voodoo Doughnut shop locations.
- Comfortable performing repetitive movements such as filming, setting up equipment, and editing content.
- Exposure to varying temperatures (near fryers, ovens, refrigerators) and high noise levels due to kitchen operations, customers, and overhead music.
- Must be aware of and able to work in environments where common allergens such as soy, wheat, dairy, nuts, strawberries, coconut, and bacon are present.
- Physical demands include walking, bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, and pulling to handle or move equipment and props weighing up to 25 pounds.
- May require indoor or outdoor filming (varied weather conditions expected).
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
