The RN Clinical Instructor - Pediatrics at Marsha Fuerst School of Nursing supports student learning in alignment with BRN requirements, the College and Nursing Faculty Handbooks, and the school’s commitment to professional growth and academic excellence.
Core Responsibilities
Theoretical Frameworks
- Integrate Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring into clinical instruction and student practice.
- Incorporate QSEN competencies (Patient-Centered Care, Teamwork, Safety, EBP, Informatics, QI) throughout clinical teaching.
Instruction & Supervision
- Apply the nursing process across all student learning experiences.
- Supervise and evaluate students during clinical rotations and ensure clinical competency.
- Teach evidence-based, cost-effective, safe nursing practices in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
Professional Standards & Evaluation
- Maintain BRN approval as Instructor, Assistant Instructor, or Clinical Teaching Assistant, meeting all licensure and experience qualifications.
- Evaluate student performance and provide coaching and remediation as needed.
- Participate in audits, curriculum development, and continuous quality improvement efforts.
Collaboration & Research
- Foster collaborative clinical environments with peers and healthcare teams.
- Encourage evidence-based practice and mentor students in nursing research.
Leadership & Professionalism
- Demonstrate professionalism through attendance, dress, and conduct.
- Participate in safety programs, risk management, and compliance with confidentiality policies.
Qualifications
- Current CA RN license; BLS required, ACLS/PALS as needed.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing (as appropriate for position level).
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience; specialty experience preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership, clinical expertise, and commitment to student success.
