Job Title: Machinist

Job Description

This position is for a machinist role in a manufacturing company. The machinist will support the assembly team by creating essential parts, primarily rotors, needed to build drills. This position involves operating and managing production on various lathes, including Mazak lathes, and ensuring production moves efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Create parts for the assembly team, focusing primarily on rotors.
• Operate and manage production on Mazak lathes, moving parts to lathes with less production.
• Set up machines, perform minor program edits using G code or CNC controls.
• Load material into the machine and oversee production runs.
• Adhere to production schedules ranging from 6-12 parts to 100+ parts, with orders taking up to 2 days.
• Ensure precision, holding tolerances at +/- .002.
• Utilize personal quality tools such as micrometers and calipers.
• Perform basic mathematical calculations with decimals and fractions.
• Operate a Bridgeport for occasional tasks like drilling holes.
• Use a forklift to move materials as needed.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years of experience machining on mills or lathes.
• Experience in setting up machines.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Previous experience maintaining tolerances at +/- .002.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Manual lathe or mill experience.
• Experience using a forklift, hoist, or similar equipment.
• Programming experience.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of LA PORTE, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
