Job Title: Visitor Center Information Specialist
Multiple Locations: PA: Honesdale, Hawley, Milford, Stroudsburg, Jim Thorpe
Reports To: Visitor Center Manager
Summary:
Promotes the Pocono Mountains region (the four counties: Monroe, Carbon, Pike, and Wayne) and informs individuals visiting the region of the activities and amenities the bureau’s members provide.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist all visitors to the center with information (availability, reservations, things to do, places to dine) about the Pocono region.
- Answer all incoming information calls and provide callers with information (availability, reservations, things to do, places to dine) about the Poconos and other tourism-related requests.
- Understands and is knowledgeable on how to navigate the website, https://www.poconomountains.com/, and relay information to guests.
- Read blogs and watch PTN and Pocono Mountains Magazine to learn more about member businesses and local offerings.
- Understand and utilize the Kiosks located at each center; show guests how to navigate the platform and find information on the Poconos.
- Enter partner referrals into partner database for referral tracking.
- Prepare complete and accurate daily reports, including customer-served counts, and reservations, notation of visits from the commissioners and PMVB members (hotel, attractions).
- Enter Pocono Mountains Magazine requests into consumer database.
- Utilize Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) for job related duties.
- Restock brochures for guest and assist in acquiring brochures for the center. Ensure literature and product displays are neat, clean, and orderly.
- Clean, tidy up, and organize center:
- Ensure cleanliness outside/around the building (remove cobwebs and trash, ensure sidewalks and walking areas are clear of obstacles, etc.)
- Clean and wipe-down the restrooms/high-touch surfaces (Kiosks, sinks, door handles, etc.)
- Restock restrooms with soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. when needed.
- Provide a completed checklist to the supervisor at the end of the day and notify of any issues when they arise.
- Properly store literature and supplies in the Visitors Center stockroom.
- Maintain up-to-date inventory of supplies and member literature.
- Track supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning disinfectants, etc.) on a weekly basis and report needs to the PMVB accounting department.
- Assist the public in emergency situations (document situation and report to management).
- Maintain accurate statistics and reference material.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of the Pocono region and its accommodations, things to do, restaurants, events/festivals, and other happenings in the four-county region (Wayne, Pike, Monroe, and Carbon counties).
- Minimum three months of related experience in customer service
- Ability to write, read, and understand instructions
- Customer service skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Good computer skills
- Extensive knowledge of the Pocono Mountains region
- Ability to lift 30 pounds
