Envocore, LLC is an established national leader engaged in the engineering, designing and installation of energy-efficient systems. Our company designs and installs projects for a wide range of Government, Commercial, Industrial, Educational, Medical, Institutional and Retail facilities across the United States. We are looking for a Senior Accountant for our Finance Department.

SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant will divide their time between general ledger accounting and leading the company’s state and local tax reporting function. This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, playing a key role in the month-end close process and supporting compliance with applicable accounting standards and controls.

The Senior Accountant manages state and local tax filings, maintaining current knowledge of tax requirements, including state and local sales and use tax as well as franchise and excise taxes. This position will work closely with the accounting team and other internal stakeholders to resolve accounting and tax matters.

The position is remote; however, candidates are expected to work in the Eastern or Central time zone. Occasional travel to Envocore’s headquarters in Gambrills, MD may be required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare general ledger journal entries, fixed asset tracking, and related balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely month-end closing.
  • Reviews financial data for accuracy; identifies problems and supports day-to-day operations.
  • Report, analyze, and interpret financial and operating data for management.
  • Prepare, review, and interpret data for inclusion in financial reports, statements, and summaries.
  • Assists in adopting new accounting standards including, but not limited to, researching standards, preparing written accounting policies, and preparing new disclosures.
  • Leads the preparation and filing of state and local sales and use tax returns and related tax filings on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Provides proactive assistance with determination of projects’ taxable status and prepares the relevant certificates for vendors and customers.
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly reporting and analyses.
  • Supports policy development and offers advice regarding accounting and internal control issues, reporting needs, and policy review and changes.
  • Assists with annual external audits of financial statements and retirement plans.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA or BS) from four-year college or university in Accounting or a related field. At least three years of progressive experience in general ledger accounting is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Computer skills:
    • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
    • Proficiency with ERP / accounting software is required
    • Advanced knowledge of Excel is preferred
    • Proficiency with Business Intelligence software is a plus
    • Proficiency with Database Software (Access) is a plus
    • Proficiency with Project Management Software is a plus


  • Other required skills:
    • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and tax laws.
    • Strong financial analysis skills.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
