About the Role:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery department plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. This full-time position, operating Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, focuses on supporting surgeons and patients through preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases. The LPN will be responsible for monitoring patient conditions, administering medications, and providing wound care specific to plastic and reconstructive procedures. Additionally, the role involves educating patients and their families about care plans and recovery processes to ensure optimal outcomes. Ultimately, this position contributes to enhancing patient safety, comfort, and satisfaction while supporting the efficient operation of the surgical practice in a dynamic healthcare environment across the United States.

*On-site training will be provided for this position.*

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of practice within the United States.
  • Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong understanding of nursing principles, patient care standards, and medical terminology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience specifically in plastic and reconstructive surgery or related surgical specialties.
  • Advanced certifications such as IV therapy or wound care management.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent communication and patient education skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist plastic and reconstructive surgeons with patient assessments, including vital signs and medical histories.
  • Prepare patients for surgical procedures by explaining processes and ensuring all preoperative requirements are met.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments, including wound care and dressing changes, following established protocols.
  • Monitor patients’ postoperative progress, identifying and reporting any complications or changes in condition promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting care provided and communicating effectively with the healthcare team.
  • Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth patient flow and continuity of care.
  • Educate patients and their families on postoperative care instructions, medication management, and lifestyle modifications to support recovery.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control standards and safety regulations within the clinical setting.

The required skills enable the LPN to provide safe and effective nursing care by accurately assessing patient conditions and administering treatments tailored to plastic and reconstructive surgery patients. Strong clinical skills ensure proper wound care and medication administration, which are critical for patient recovery and infection prevention.
