This is a Full-Time position at Paisley Hall Childcare/PreSchool - 8:00 am to 5:30 pm M - F (No nights, no weekends). We are set in a beautiful Victorian cottage in Sylvan Park, West Nashville. The Teacher must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The Teacher must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children and help resolve parental concerns. The Teacher will receive training in these areas, as well as in co-managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Must be an adult. Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development preferred - a High School degree with professional experience OK. Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, have current Flu and Tetanus (which is good for 10 years) vaccine, and a recent negative TB skin test. Candidates for the position will receive a form to be completed at their Physician's office.

DUTIES

• Maintain frequent, warm and friendly communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports.
• Assist Director and Lead Teacher in developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards (TN-ELDS)
• Help plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
• Ensure all Paisley Hall policies and state regulations are met.
• Ensure a healthy classroom environment - including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards as well as safety and security of children.
• Help maintain accurate records, forms and files.
• Maintain personal professional development plan and training (12 to 14 hours/year - online and in person) to ensure continuous quality improvement.

REQUIREMENTS

• Have attained an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development, High School diploma (or equivalent) and professional child care experience.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
• High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to help foster and maintain a team environment.
• A strong understanding of child development.
• Requirements include the ability to use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl and be able to lift a 25 - 30 lb. child, when necessary.
• A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Be reliable and punctual.
• Casual, comfortable and appropriate attire.

Bi-lingual ability

Be able to sing with/for the children on pitch

Have a calm, quiet demeanor

Enthusiastically lead dramatic play and engage children while reading aloud

SALARY + PERKS

Salary (NOT hourly) OF $2600 - $2900/MONTH) paid twice monthly

13 paid holidays per year. 1 Week paid vacation & 4 paid sick days per year (after 8 months employment)

We focus on music, the arts and dramatic play, into which we weave math, science and literature through PLAY. We serve all of our children (licensed capacity of 12) in one classroom - the same approach that the Montessori system sprang from. Ours is a lovely, natural play yard. Our lead teacher has been with us for 24 years! You would be the second of two full-time teachers and we have back-up in case of illness or emergency.
