Description
Purchasing Agents are responsible for procurement of goods, quality compliance and inventory management.
Responsibilities:
- Manages supply chain risks
- Builds long-term, collaborative relationships with preferred suppliers
- Procures customized items
- Evaluates supplier quotes and services
- Evaluates supplier performance
- Identifies qualified vendors for difficult to source items
- Evaluates cost savings opportunities and presents findings
- Evaluates forecasts to maintain desired inventory levels
- Prepares, issues, and maintains purchase orders for timely delivery
- Executes inventory replenishment requests
- Maintains factory shortage report
- Assists in the investigation of non-conforming materials and takes corrective action
- Assists in the reconciliation of receiving/invoicing/billing discrepancies
- Coordinates the return of non-conforming material
- Maintains procurement records, including ERP data and notations
- Helps streamline and automate procurement and purchasing processes
- Represents the Purchasing Team on special project teams or task forces
- Other purchasing duties as assigned
Requirements:
Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of purchasing concepts, practices and procedures
- Ability to set procurement strategies and set goals
- Knowledge of purchasing system software and inventory management systems
- Ability to understand engineering drawings, budgets and contract language
- Strong negotiation and customer service skills
- Ability to review, analyze, and interpret various reports
- Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing; technical writing a plus
- Ability to work professionally in team environment and with other departmental teams
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to develop spreadsheets, databases, presentations, reports, charts, graphs using computer software
- Must be able to work independently with minimal direction and oversight
- High ethical standards
- High attention to detail
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience in vendor qualification for customized or made to specification items required
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, mathematics, economics, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience in an MRP environment, electronics or technical industry a plus
- Experience in lean or six sigma process improvement preferred
- Experience in motion control industrial purchasing preferred
- Purchasing agent certification is a plus
Job Detail:
- Full-time, salary-exempt with full benefits

- Onsite position
- Day Shift - Monday through Friday 7:00AM-3:30PM
Essential Functions:
