Job SummaryThe Payroll Specialist is a key member of Client Corporate Payroll team, responsible for delivering accurate and timely payroll services in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. This role will interact regularly with employees and management across the organization, requiring strong communication skills, discretion, and attention to detail. The Payroll Specialist will contribute to payroll compliance, process improvement, and excellent customer service while supporting U.S. and Canadian payroll operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll for U.S. and Canadian employees with accuracy and timeliness
- Troubleshoot and resolve payroll processing errors
- Maintain compliance while delivering high-quality customer service
- Communicate with local management teams to ensure accurate payroll execution
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to payroll systems and processes
- Complete payroll reconciliations, including balancing and reporting (e.g., Form 941, W-2, T4)
- Ensure secure and compliant data maintenance
- Maintain clear, up-to-date process documentation, including manuals and SOPs
- Serve as a secondary processor for U.S. and Canadian non-exempt payrolls
- Provide professional guidance and support to employees regarding payroll matters
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver outstanding customer service
- Support management by contributing to special projects and metrics as needed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of general office or accounting experience (payroll experience preferred)
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
- Intermediate understanding of accounting and mathematical procedures
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and strategic thinking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Comfortable making quick, well-informed decisions
- High level of organization and time management skills
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Knowledge of Client business units and organizational structure
- Familiarity with IBM (CICS & IMS) and MDM systems
- Prior experience in U.S. and Canadian payroll processing
- Experience in process improvement initiatives
Certifications (if any)
- Payroll certification (e.g., CPP or FPC) is a plus
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to clearly hear, speak, read, and communicate both orally and in writing
- Physical requirements include standing, sitting, filing, bending, and extended computer/phone use
- Client requires the successful completion of a background check
