Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years CVOR RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a specialized cardiovascular operating room environment and provide critical nursing care to patients undergoing advanced surgical procedures. This contract role places you at the heart of surgical excellence, supporting a highly skilled team in a fast-paced, technology-driven unit.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active RN license required
- ACLS and BLS certifications (mandatory)
- Minimum of 2 years current experience in an acute CVOR setting
- Proficiency with procedures such as CABG, MVR, AVR, pacemakers, laser lead extractions, thoracic and endovascular cases
- Familiarity with Open Heart instrumentation, TEE, ultrasound, and Meditech documentation system
- Experience in minimally invasive cardiac procedures strongly preferred
- Adaptability, strong independent function, and previous travel nursing experience are desirable
Schedule:
- On-call rotation required (approximately every other day and every other weekend)
- Day shift staffed with 2 RNs and 2 techs; on-call during nights
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients before, during, and after surgical procedures
- Maintain strict adherence to sterile protocols throughout each operation
- Ensure all necessary surgical equipment and medications are prepared and available
- Accurately document surgical progress, patient responses, and procedural outcomes
- Provide quality control and uphold patient safety at all times
- Deliver lunch relief in various service lines including vascular, robotics, ortho, neuro/spine, urology, podiatry, thoracic, and plastics, as needed
- Properly handle specimens and uphold best practice in every step
