Utility Infrastructure Engineer / Civil or Electrical
Utility Project Engineer
Location: Oakbrook Terrace, IL. 60181 (Hybrid)
Duration: 1 year plus contract assignment
40 hours per week, at least 3 days per week in office, remote work 2 days per week. Field visits may be required. Work related mileage reimbursed at 70 cents per mile.
You will work with industry professionals on utility infrastructure relocation projects.
Utilize ComEd maps, records, and GIS system to locate ComEd facilities.
Review and analyze proposed utility engineering plans and profiles for public improvement projects and perform analysis to identify if there will be utility conflicts.
Perform analysis, identify conflicts, suggest design revisions to avoid conflicts.
Propose design changes to resolve underground utility conflicts.
Prepare engineering reply letters, plan mark ups, lists, and other documents.
Maintain and update project database and records.
Use resolution and negotiation skills to eliminate potential conflicts.
Create estimates, test hole plans, and other documents when needed.
Candidate must have utility experience (electric, roadway, water, storm, sewer, gas, or telecom).
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering - Civil Engineer or Electrical Engineer preferred.
Experience designing, creating, reviewing, or drafting civil engineering plans and profiles preferred.
You will work in ComEd's Public utility Relocation Department and will work on projects related to Utility line relocation and Right of way moves due to public improvements within the right of away.
The manager wants someone that has a few years of experience and able to read and understand Utility maps and utility installation plans.
Will review public utility right of way drawings and proposed projects to identify if ComEd electric lines will need to be relocated and/or are in conflict with existing or proposed infrastructure improvements.
Experience reviewing civil and utility engineering plans and profiles for utility construction projects. Utility project experience (including construction or inspection).
Hands or eyes on projects inclusive of water mains, sewer mains, natural gas distribution or transmission pipelines, underground telecommunication lines, electric distribution or transmission lines.
Specifically reviewing utility plans for road improvement projects, sewer replacements etc.
Proficient with civil prints and construction means / methods.
Ability to analyze / identify utility conflicts with civil designs and propose alternatives.
Ability to perform site walkdowns .
