Chemical Engineer & Laboratory Manager


JAN Resources – Energy Services | H2S Treatment | Production & Frac Chemicals

JAN Resources is seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Chemical Engineer who will also serve as the day-to-day Laboratory Manager. This role is ideal for a formulator who thrives in both product development and operational lab leadership.

This position is responsible for developing and scaling chemical solutions for H2S treatment, production optimization, and frac chemical applications, while directly managing laboratory operations, quality control, and technical support for field and plant operations.

This is not a desk-only engineering role. This is a roll-up-your-sleeves, leadership position.


Position Overview

The Chemical Engineer & Laboratory Manager will:

  • Develop new formulations and improve existing chemistries
  • Lead lab-scale testing through field implementation
  • Oversee quality control and lab operations
  • Support production, frac, and water recycle operations with technical expertise
  • Protect and advance JAN Resources’ proprietary technologies

This individual must be technically strong, operationally disciplined, and capable of working independently.

Core Responsibilities


Product Development & Engineering

  • Design and develop H2S treatment chemistries and scavenger technologies
  • Lead frac chemical formulation and optimization
  • Develop and test new chemical applications
  • Scale products from laboratory validation to field implementation
  • Conduct product trials and performance evaluations
  • Troubleshoot field performance issues and adjust formulations as needed
  • Ensure cost-effective and environmentally responsible solutions


Laboratory Operations & Management

  • Manage daily laboratory operations and workflow efficiency
  • Oversee QC testing of raw materials, in-process blends, and finished products
  • Conduct routine testing (CWA, ATP, TSS, TPH, Amine residuals, etc.)
  • Support production and operations teams with real-time quality decisions
  • Maintain chemical, reagent, and consumable inventory levels
  • Oversee calibration, maintenance, and vendor servicing of lab equipment
  • Ensure documentation integrity and regulatory compliance


Safety, Compliance & Intellectual Property

  • Maintain strict adherence to safety and environmental regulations
  • Ensure proper documentation of formulations and testing data
  • Protect proprietary and confidential technologies
  • Maintain compliance with industry standards and internal controls


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (required)
  • 5+ years of experience in H2S treatment, production chemicals, frac chemicals, or related oil & gas chemical applications
  • Proven experience in formulation development and lab-scale testing
  • Experience managing laboratory operations or quality control programs
  • Strong understanding of scale-up processes from lab to field
  • Working knowledge of industry compliance standards
