CDL Truck Driver – Commercial Construction Location: Long Island, NY Compensation: $35.00 – $40.00 per hour + Overtime Opportunities
Job Summary We are a premier commercial construction company seeking a disciplined and dependable CDL Truck Driver to join our team in Long Island. This role is focused on delivering essential building materials to sites across the Tri-State area. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with extensive experience operating heavy vehicles and a commitment to safety and efficiency in fast-paced construction environments. Key Responsibilities
- Safe Operation: Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
- Material Transport: Pick up and safely transport goods, construction materials, or equipment to intended destinations across the Tri-State area.
- Load Security: Ensure contents are properly secured in a truck or flatbed to prevent damage or injury during transit.
- Route Management: Assist in mapping driving routes and stay on predetermined paths to ensure timely delivery.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, refuel, and ensure the vehicle is kept clean and serviced.
- Documentation: Obtain signatures to complete deliveries and maintain detailed driving and delivery logs.
- Compliance: Strictly adhere to company rules, ICC and DOT regulations, and all applicable traffic laws.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of proven experience in commercial truck driving required.
- Licensing: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
- Clean Record: Must have a clean driving record with no moving violations.
- Screening: Must pass a background check and drug test.
- Physical Fitness: Physically and mentally fit with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time.
- Technical Skills: Proficient using GPS, routing systems, and map reading.
- Equipment: Comfortable operating an electric lift, hand trucks, and pallet jacks.
- Soft Skills: High level of composure, excellent stress management, and a resourceful, independent work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Comfortable with long-haul transport and navigating the Tri-State region.
