Job Description

Job Description

Day-to-Day

An established and steadily growing manufacturer within the high-security and industrial equipment space is expanding its drafting team due to increased project backlog and new client demand. This is a hands-on CAD Designer role supporting production and engineering by reverse designing existing parts and components into AutoCAD.

You’ll work directly with physical parts, taking measurements, breaking down assemblies, and recreating accurate drawings for documentation, manufacturing, and future modifications. The team is lean (5–8 drafters/designers + engineering support), highly collaborative, and prioritizes training and internal development. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, detail-oriented CAD work without heavy theoretical engineering requirements.

Daily responsibilities include measuring components, updating legacy drawings, organizing CAD files, and supporting production teams with accurate documentation. You’ll interact with tenured team members who will help guide standards and best practices, but you’ll also have the autonomy to own your work fairly quickly.

Must-haves

  • 3+ years of experience using AutoCAD (or similar CAD software)
  • Comfortable taking physical measurements of parts and translating them into 2D drawings
  • Basic understanding of drafting principles (dimensions, tolerances, layouts)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to replicate existing designs accurately
  • Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints or technical drawings
  • Solid communication skills and willingness to learn from senior team members
  • Comfortable working onsite in a hands-on environment
  • Ability to pass a background check

Plusses

  • Experience with reverse engineering or modifying existing drawings
  • Exposure to manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environments
  • Familiarity with mechanical components or assemblies
  • Experience organizing or maintaining drawing/document control systems
  • Basic understanding of fabrication processes (cutting, welding, machining)

Compensation

$55,000 - $75,000 annual salary

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
