Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license and minimum 1+ years Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A licensed practical nurse (LPN/LVN) is needed to provide on-call substitute nursing support for K-12 students in a school setting in Torrington, CT. This position involves working with special needs students requiring comprehensive medical care and support throughout the school day.
Responsibilities include:
- Administering diabetes monitoring and support
- Assisting wheelchair-bound students with lifting and fall prevention
- Providing breathing treatments and tracheostomy/g-tube care
- Medication distribution and management
- Supporting students with seizures, Lyme disease care, and gastrointestinal complications
- Riding school transport vans as required for student transportation
Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut LPN license
- CPR/BLS certification
- Completion of required background checks including fingerprinting, CT DCF clearance, criminal conviction check, and compliance with CT Act 16-67
Hours vary based on student schedules, typically between 6:50 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. This is an on-site contract role for the 2025-2026 school year.
