As part of our mission, we are expanding our team to support air quality monitoring initiatives and research projects that contribute to public and environmental health.

Position Summary:

We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join our environmental research and laboratory team. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong interest in air quality, environmental science, and laboratory instrumentation. Team members will assist research scientists in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to smoke, ash, and airborne contaminants. At the outset, this is a contract role with an expected minimum duration of six months.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with air quality sampling and environmental monitoring projects

• Operate, calibrate, and maintain scientific instruments and air samplers

• Support laboratory analyses using techniques such as:

  • Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS)

  • Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS)

  • Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)

• Perform literature reviews and contribute to ongoing research efforts

• Help organize laboratory space and ensure equipment is properly maintained

• Support field deployments and assist in setting up instruments in mobile lab environments

• Maintain accurate records of data, procedures, and calibration logs

• Assist in quality control and data validation procedures

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or working toward a degree in environmental science, chemistry, physics, or a related field (preferred but not required)

• Previous experience in air quality studies, field sampling, or lab instrumentation is a plus

• Familiarity with analytical techniques like GC-MS, ICP-MS, or SEM is highly desirable

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team

• Willingness to assist with mobile lab setups and occasional fieldwork
