Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, energetic, and nurturing Floating Assistant Teacher to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting children’s intellectual, social-emotional, and physical development in a safe and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate is patient, creative, and passionate about helping children reach their full potential.

The Floating Assistant Teacher supports the overall program by assisting in classrooms on an as-needed basis. This position works collaboratively with lead teachers to ensure classrooms operate smoothly and meet the standards set by Early Achievers and DCYF. Responsibilities include maintaining a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment while providing consistent support to both teachers and children.

37.5 hours per week; 12 months +.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and implementing daily classroom activities under the direction of lead teachers
  • Provide classroom support as needed to ensure smooth program operations
  • Supervise children at all times and maintain a safe, nurturing environment
  • Communicate and consistently enforce classroom expectations that promote safety, respect, and responsibility
  • Build positive, professional relationships with children, families, and staff
  • Maintain confidentiality of child and family information
  • Participate cooperatively as a member of the Co-op
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment
  • Represent the program professionally to families, visitors, and the community

Qualifications

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Obtain a Portable Background Check through DCYF
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Negative TB test
  • Proof of MMR Vaccine
  • Previous experience working as a child care teacher or in a licensed child care center preferred
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices
  • Patient, kind, and nurturing with the ability to create a supportive learning environment
    Demonstrated emotional maturity and professionalism when working with young children
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Ability to adapt to different classrooms and provide stability and continuity within the program
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to collaborate effectively with teaching staff
