This position supports US Equestrian’s membership by assisting in communications campaigns that provide better understanding of the services and programs the Federation offers members. This role will also assist with other content management and editorial needs within the US Equestrian marketing department.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with the Director of Communications and across USEF departments to create written feature stories for web and e-newsletter distribution on corporate communications topics
- As requested, write and source feature stories profiling diverse member stories across breeds and disciplines
- Assist with the drafting, coordination, and monitoring of social media content to complement educational campaigns
- Copyediting assistance as needed for magazine and web copy
- Writing, proofing, and providing editorial guidance on website content
- Assisting with conversion of web content into a new content management system
- Support facilitation of podcasts and other multimedia educational efforts
- Assist in promotion of live events such as member listening sessions
- Assist in monitoring digital and social media to identify topics of curiosity or concern
Goals and Objectives:
- Develop and maintain relationships with staff across departments to have a broad understanding of what the Federation does and how
- Assist other departments as requested with communications as able
- Positively contribute to the department’s team environment
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or equestrian science/sport management. Equivalent experience in an equestrian journalism or public relations capacity is preferred’
- Preferred: Familiarity with AP or APA style
Physical Requirements:
- Some travel
- Extended hours of availability, including evenings and weekends.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. (Anything over 25 pounds requires a two-person lift)
