This role is full-time onsite at our Brooklyn Park, MN headquarters and our selected candidate will be local to the Minneapolis area.
The Role
The Manufacturing Engineer I has the responsibility to assure the effective utilization of equipment and materials with an objective of maximizing production output while maintaining safety, quality, and cost standards.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research, build business case, and implement capital expenditures and point-of-use materials systems, KanBans, and other techniques to improve utilization of working capital.
- Support in coordinating lean manufacturing practices, facilities layout/maintenance and qualification of equipment and tooling.
- Support production staff when technical issues arise, perform root-cause analysis on said issues, and implement quality solutions in a timely manner.
- Develop and recommend new processes and technologies to improve product quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Follow established manufacturing techniques and operating equipment specifications, identifying process improvements and resolution to issues where possible.
- Provide technical direction, training, and certification for operators performing detailed process steps to ensure that production assemblers, testers, inspectors, and support staff have necessary skills, appropriate documentation, tooling, and process control capability.
- Design & procure custom manufacturing tooling.
- Participate in the qualification and development of suppliers for components, sub-assemblies, and processes.
- Implement design and development activities related to the operations assessment, process development, and product validation.
- Support electronic DHR (eDHR) and ERP utilization, programming updates, software maintenance and troubleshooting as required.
- Investigate and resolve non-conforming material reports (NMR) and corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) that relate to manufacturing of product.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by manager.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING and JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or technical equivalent.
- 0 – 4 years experience with manufacturing engineering.
- Experience leading and participating in project teams
- Experience in the medical device industry
- Experience in basic computer programming
- Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate effective participation in project teams
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, demand flow technology, KanBan management and/or with six sigma tools
- Experience in the manufacture of implantable leads and implantable pulse generators (IPGs) used in implantable medical therapies
- Experience in the use of manufacturing planning software and systems
PREFERRED EDUCATION, TRAINING and JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE
- Advanced degree preferred
- Start-up or growth-stage company experience
WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIRED PHYSICAL EFFORT
- Normal cleanroom, R&D laboratory, and office conditions (not a remote position)
- Occasional lifting and/or movement of equipment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Salary range for U.S locations (USD): 95,000 - 110,000 The base salary range is applicable across the U.S., complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and specific location.
