Job Description

Skillwork is seeking a driven Business Development Manager (BDM) to grow our manufacturing client base through cold calling, territory development, relationship-building, and in-person client visits.

This is a true outside sales role focused on prospecting manufacturing facilities, building long-term partnerships, and helping clients solve skilled maintenance and labor challenges.


Responsibilities

  • Prospect and develop new manufacturing clients through cold calling, networking, email outreach, and plant visits
  • Build relationships with plant managers, maintenance leaders, operations teams, and HR departments
  • Conduct in-person meetings with prospective and existing clients throughout assigned territory
  • Identify staffing challenges and present workforce solutions including:
  • Contract Staffing
  • Contract-to-Hire
  • Direct Hire
  • Partner with internal recruiting and lead generation teams to support client growth
  • Maintain CRM activity and pipeline updates
  • Attend trade shows and industry events as needed
  • Achieve monthly and quarterly sales goals

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of B2B sales experience preferred
  • Staffing, manufacturing, industrial, or outside sales experience strongly preferred
  • Strong cold calling, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Self-motivated with a competitive mindset
  • Comfortable spending significant time in the field visiting clients
  • Ability to travel throughout assigned territory

Preferred Experience

  • Manufacturing or industrial staffing experience
  • Knowledge of skilled trades and maintenance roles

Compensation

  • Expected total compensation range: $100,000–$150,000+ annually, including base salary and uncapped commissions, with initial business provided to support early earnings potential.
