Job Description
Skillwork is seeking a driven Business Development Manager (BDM) to grow our manufacturing client base through cold calling, territory development, relationship-building, and in-person client visits.
This is a true outside sales role focused on prospecting manufacturing facilities, building long-term partnerships, and helping clients solve skilled maintenance and labor challenges.
Responsibilities
- Prospect and develop new manufacturing clients through cold calling, networking, email outreach, and plant visits
- Build relationships with plant managers, maintenance leaders, operations teams, and HR departments
- Conduct in-person meetings with prospective and existing clients throughout assigned territory
- Identify staffing challenges and present workforce solutions including:
- Contract Staffing
- Contract-to-Hire
- Direct Hire
- Partner with internal recruiting and lead generation teams to support client growth
- Maintain CRM activity and pipeline updates
- Attend trade shows and industry events as needed
- Achieve monthly and quarterly sales goals
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of B2B sales experience preferred
- Staffing, manufacturing, industrial, or outside sales experience strongly preferred
- Strong cold calling, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated with a competitive mindset
- Comfortable spending significant time in the field visiting clients
- Ability to travel throughout assigned territory
Preferred Experience
- Manufacturing or industrial staffing experience
- Knowledge of skilled trades and maintenance roles
Compensation
- Expected total compensation range: $100,000–$150,000+ annually, including base salary and uncapped commissions, with initial business provided to support early earnings potential.
