We are seeking a motivated Warehouse Supervisor Level 1 to support operations at our Customs Exam Station (CES) and Fulfillment Warehouse in Fife.. Position Summary
The Warehouse Supervisor Level 1 oversees day-to-day activities within the Customs Bonded Warehouse, ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs requirements and company standards. Responsibilities include supervising warehouse associates, coordinating workload with the CES office and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), monitoring productivity and safety, and supporting customer service needs. This role requires hands-on leadership and a focus on operational efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Reports To: Operations Manager
Supervisory Responsibility: Direct supervision of approximately 8 warehouse associates
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with occasional overtime and weekend work as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily workload with CES office staff and CBP officers.
- Supervise a team of 8 warehouse associates, including general labor and forklift operators.
- Communicate workload plans and expectations to team members.
- Interact with customers and CBP via email regarding exam processes.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoicing and customer inquiries.
- Support training of new employees and implementation of new processes.
- Monitor employee timekeeping, review corrections, and approve time-off requests.
- Conduct and document daily safety meetings; enforce a safe and compliant work environment.
- Oversee facility security, including alarm systems, doors, and access control.
- Maintain inventory of warehouse supplies; notify manager of replenishment needs.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, TSA requirements, and facility security protocols.
- Participate in monthly safety meetings and submit required documentation to HR and Operations Management.
- Represent Mercer Distribution Services at CES-related events, as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- 3–5 years of warehouse experience, including at least 1 year of supervisory or lead experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current forklift certification.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English (required for safety and Customs compliance).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to learn new software systems.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with ability to coach and discipline staff as needed.
- Basic math skills, including calculating freight, dimensional weight, and invoices.
- Must pass background check and meet all requirements to work in a U.S. Customs bonded facility.
Preferred
- Experience in a Customs Exam Station or bonded warehouse environment.
- Familiarity with fulfillment and lean process methodologies.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in a warehouse setting with exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variation.
- Regular lifting up to 20 lbs., with occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, climbing ladders, and operating pallet jacks.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety vests and other PPE as assigned.
