Electromechanic (Electrical Troubleshooter) – Food Manufacturing
Position Summary
The Electromechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical and mechanical systems within a food manufacturing environment. This role ensures continuous operation of production equipment, supports preventive maintenance programs, and helps maintain a safe, efficient, and compliant facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical issues on production equipment, conveyors, packaging machinery, mixers, ovens, sealers, and automated systems.
- Perform mechanical repairs including replacing motors, bearings, belts, chains, sensors, switches, and pneumatic components.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, PLC diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Troubleshoot and repair 480V/240V/120V systems, control panels, VFDs, PLC inputs/outputs, and low-voltage circuits.
- Conduct preventive maintenance (PM) on all plant equipment to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
- Maintain and update maintenance logs, PM records, and repair documentation.
- Perform equipment changeovers, calibrations, and line setup as needed.
- Ensure compliance with food-safety standards (HACCP, GMPs, FDA, USDA requirements).
- Respond quickly to emergency breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Work closely with production, sanitation, and quality teams to support continuous improvement.
- Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and company regulations.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as an electromechanic, industrial electrician, or electrical troubleshooter (food or manufacturing preferred).
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, PLC troubleshooting, and mechanical repair.
- Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.

- Experience with industrial automation, sensors, limit switches, and relays.
- Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical drive systems.
- Familiarity with food manufacturing safety and sanitation requirements (GMP/HACCP).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and respond to urgent issues.
- Must be able to stand, bend, lift 50 lbs, and work in hot/cold/wet environments as required.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with PLC programming or advanced troubleshooting.
- Experience with VFD setup and tuning.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Certification in industrial electricity, mechatronics, or related field is preferred.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Shift begins at 1:30 AM.
- Full-time position; may require weekends, overtime, or emergency on-call support.
- Food-grade production facility with strict sanitation and safety protocols.
