The Humane Society of Missouri (HSMO) is seeking a dynamic and relationship-driven Major Gift Officer/Manager of Leadership Giving to join our Development team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Leadership Giving, this position plays a vital role in cultivating meaningful relationships with donors who make HSMO's life-saving work possible.
The Manager will manage a portfolio of approximately 150 leadership and major gift donors and prospects, developing individualized strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts of $1,000 and above. This position also supports donor recognition and stewardship activities-including the Women's Leadership Council, key donor events, and the exploration of a new Longmeadow Rescue Ranch affinity group for donors passionate about that branch of our mission.
The ideal candidate is a thoughtful communicator, strategic fundraiser, and collaborative teammate with a genuine passion for animal welfare. Experience with major gifts, annual giving, or donor engagement programs is required; experience using Raiser's Edge NXT is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and grow a portfolio of ~150 leadership and major donors.
- Create and execute cultivation and solicitation strategies to increase donor engagement.
- Support stewardship events and donor affinity group activities.
- Collaborate across departments to strengthen the mid-level giving pipeline.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years of fundraising experience, preferably in major or leadership giving.
- CFRE preferred but not required.
- Proven ability to cultivate and solicit gifts and build lasting donor relationships.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in donor database systems (preferably Raiser's Edge NXT).
- Passion for the mission and values of the Humane Society of Missouri.
