The Intern contributes to the mission of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops by supporting the Office of National Collections-Catholic Home Mission. The intern will have opportunities to enrich his or her academic program or career preparation by supporting the work of the Catholic Home Missions staff under the supervision of the program's Director.
Activities my include conducting research on specific dioceses/eparchies or regions within the United States and its territories, surveying grantees, reviewing and summarizing final reports for promotional use.
The main goal of the internship is to assist the Subcommittee and Staff to utilize collected data in an effective manner that contributes to the bishops' mission directive for the Conference and the CHM Subcommittee mandate.
Responsibilities (depending upon skill level of intern):
A) Grant Management
· Provide staff support on specific tasks, such as communications with grantees (dioceses and eparchies), creation of targeted e-mailing lists, surveys, and reports.
· Review grant reports for completeness; write summaries and extract material to create impact narratives for use in promotional activities.
B) Promotions/Marketing
· Assist in obtaining all necessary legal releases related to text and photos/images/videos.
· Develop strategies to increase awareness of our work via social media, websites, Catholic media (radio and TV) and CHM Newsletter, Neighbors.
C) Special Projects - Assist with compiling procedures manual and archiving.
Education: Completion of 2 years of college. Active undergraduate or graduate student.
Major: Statistical/Data Analysis, Church Administration, Pastoral Ministry, Marketing or Communications
Other Specialized Training: Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Statistical Analysis software are necessary; knowledge of the Catholic Church; writing and research skills preferred.
The internship begins as soon as possible and is for a 10-week period/ 11 hours a week. The hourly rate is $21.22 an hour.
