Job DescriptionSalary: Salary Range: $77,000 - 101,977 per year, based on experience, plus benefits.
School Social Worker Position Description
Under the direction of the Principal, the Social Worker will address the psychological and social well-being of children. This person will provide information and counseling; and help children, parents and school staff work together to solve problems by communicating and providing referrals to other resources. The Social Worker will work with children ages 3 to 12.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist teachers and administrators in dealing with behavioral issues by communicating with students to find the causes of their distress;
- Conduct play and group therapy meetings, and individual therapy sessions;
- Develop and progress-monitor social emotional goals for Individualized Education Plans as necessary.
- Maintain case files and reports to track student information and progress and to recognize patterns in behavior;
- Contribute to social emotional learning curriculum that is reflective of the tenets of the Montessori method and aligns with Lees ABAR practices;
- Observe and provide feedback to staff delivering social emotional lessons;
- Assist in developing guidelines for a strong social work program for an expanding school;
- Support the establishment of a school-wide wellness program, including professional development for all staff;
- Form strategic partnerships and alliances with other agencies and community stakeholders to coordinate outreach and resources for families;
- Submit verbal and/or written reports on the activities and status of the family services areas as required;
- Serve as part of the Student Support, Child Study, and Special Education teams;
- Develop and progress-monitor social emotional goals for Individualized Education Plans as necessary.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master's degree and at least two years of related work experience.
- Previous exposure to or experience in the education sector a plus.
- Current social work or equivalent licensure, preferably LICSW.
- Commitment to Lees core values and ABAR principles (Anti-Racist/Anti-Bias practices).
