Responsibilities
Draw blood samples from patients accurately, safely, and efficiently, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
Prepare specimens for laboratory testing following established procedures and protocols.
Verify patient demographic information and ensure proper labeling of specimens in the presence of the patient.
Maintain thorough and accurate records of collection activities and ensure compliance with healthcare standards and confidentiality policies.
Educate and explain procedures to patients to foster a trusting and comfortable environment.
Demonstrate professionalism and uphold safety standards at all times while maintaining a clean, organized workspace.
Travel to multiple locations as needed to support various patient service centers and clinical sites, including coverage during weekends, holidays, and on-call hours.
Required Skills
Excellent phlebotomy skills with experience in pediatric, geriatric, and capillary blood collections.
Strong attention to detail to prevent errors and ensure specimen integrity.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Effective communication skills for engaging with patients, staff, and team members.
Organizational skills to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
Proficiency in keyboard and data entry tasks to accurately document collection activities.
Additional Skills & Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
Phlebotomy certification is preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
Previous experience in a Patient Service Center environment is highly desirable.
Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and overtime, and the ability to travel between multiple locations as needed.
Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record if driving is involved.
