This position requires candidates to reside in Kentucky, specifically in one of the following counties: Fayette, Scott, Woodford, Franklin, Jessamine, Madison, Montgomery, Clark, Anderson, or Bourbon.
POSITION
The Human Resource (HR) Assistant plays a vital role in supporting UWBG’s HR functions by handling key administrative and operational tasks. This position is responsible for assisting with recruitment, onboarding, employee records, training coordination, and survey reporting. The HR Assistant also serves as a liaison between employees and the HR department, ensuring effective communication and access to HR services.
The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of Human Resources, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple HR initiatives independently. They will be responsible for coordinating HR projects, maintaining schedules, supporting employee programs, and assisting in policy and procedure development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of HR functions
- Provide administrative support to the HR Manager
- Coordinate HR projects (meetings, training, surveys, etc.)
- Manage the hiring process, including resume screening, interview scheduling, candidate selection, and background checks
- Coordinate new employee onboarding and orientation
- Participate in recruitment events and manage job postings
- Assign, track, and report on employee training
- Assist with employee surveys and reporting
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies and procedures
- Assist in updating job descriptions and conducting position inventories
- Coordinate internship and work-study programs
- Communicate staff updates and announcements
- Support performance review processes
- Assist in developing HR policies, procedures, and best practices
- Perform other HR-related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Associate degree in HR or a related field; or work experience equivalent
- Three years’ experience in an administrative role
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Additional Qualifications
- Experience working in general human resources or recruitment preferred
- Must be able to think critically
- Professionally supportive of UWBG’s mission.
- Proven experience as an HR Assistant, Staff Assistant or relevant human resources/administrative position preferred
- Fast computer typing skills (MS Office, in particular)
- Hands-on experience with an HRIS (Human Resource Information System) or HRMS (Human Resource Management System) preferred
- Familiarity with ATS (Applicant Tracking System) software preferred
- Basic knowledge of labor laws
- Excellent organizational skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc. This position will be primarily based out of the central UWBG office.
EXPECTED WORK HOURS
This is a Part-Time position, Monday through Friday, maximum 25 hours per week. Flexible daily hours may be available year-round. Daily work schedule and any flextime hours must be approved by the Human Resource Manager.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The employee is regularly required to communicate clearly, and exchange accurate information interpersonally or through communication devices. Must be able to learn new systems and procedures, prepare and analyze data and figures, constantly operate a computer and other standard office machinery. The position requires occasional movement throughout the office to access files, papers, or move supplies weighing up to 25lbs. Must be open to work-related travel in the Central Kentucky area as requested.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING REQUIREMENTS
Any candidate offered a position may be required to pass pre-employment screenings as mandated by UWBG. These screenings may include a national background check, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.

SALARY
Salary range: $19.00 to $24.00 per hour
