INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER
The Instructional Designer is responsible for analyzing, designing, developing and evaluating learning to improve organizational effectiveness using a variety of tools and techniques. This position will create learning that addresses organizational performance
Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
- Perform learning needs analysis and suggest instructional approach; estimate timeline and resources.
- Design and develop custom in-house learning content utilizing innovative adult learning theory principles, integrating objective/evaluated-based interactive components and activities for all formats to enhance application, retention, and skill development.
- Manage multiple design projects using project management tools and methodologies.
- Research and implement new and emerging technologies or processes to evolve learning offerings.
- Review and update learning content based on changing needs of the organization.
- Manage, create, and update eLearning content on all online learning platforms, including a Learning Management System and the company intranet.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of learning solutions for business impact and scalability.
- Support Talent Development and HR strategies by actively serving on additional project teams and providing project management support.
- Participate in team brainstorming and strategy meetings to help define goals and direction.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Systems Design or Education; Certification in Instructional Design.
Experience:
- 3+ years’ experience designing learning, writing content, and evaluating the effectiveness of programs.
- 3+ years’ experience using rapid eLearning development tools such as Articulate 360 or Genially.
- Experience in selecting and manipulating graphic images for use in learning materials using design programs such as Canva or Adobe Express.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 360.
- Practical experience consulting with internal business partners to identify needs and develop innovative solutions.
- Construction or manufacturing industry experience is a plus.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Strong understanding of ADDIE, cognitive and behavioral learning theory, and instructional design and development.
- Able to effectively deal with ambiguity, cope with change, and shift direction as needed to address organizational goals and objectives.
- Knowledge of adult learning theory, learning needs assessment, curriculum design, and ROI/evaluation methodology.
- Ability to develop strong relationships, manage multiple projects, facilitate change management, and effectively communicate with all areas of the organization.
- Coaching skills and the ability to influence a project team to meet deadlines.
- Passion for igniting and leading cultural change.
Physical and/or travel demands:
- Frequent sitting, use of keyboard, monitor, and telephone.
- Occasional travel, less than 10%.
Benefits and Compensation:
- The range for this position has been established at $65,000 to $92,000 per year and is U.S. Engineering’s good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting. The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
