Employment Type: Full-Time/Part-Time

Compensation: $12- $13/ hr

Are you looking to break into the world of bartending? Derby Dinner is looking for a high-energy, fast-moving Barback to join our team. You are the engine that keeps the bartenders & servers running. While the bartenders are crafting drinks, you are behind the scenes ensuring they have every tool, glass, and ingredient they need to succeed.

This is a physically demanding, fast-paced role perfect for someone who thrives in a high-volume environment and wants to learn the hospitality industry from the ground up.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

Inventory Management: Restock liquor bottles, beer, ice, and garnishes throughout the shift.
Glassware Maintenance: Collect dirty glassware and replace with clean
Bar Prep: Prepare fresh juices, syrups, and garnishes (cutting fruit, etc.) before and during the rush
Cleanliness: Maintain a clean bar & server area by wiping down counters, restocking empty items, and managing spills immediately
Team Support: Assist bartenders with any tasks needed to reduce guest wait times.

What You Bring (Qualifications)

Work Ethic: You don’t wait to be told what to do; you see a need and fill it.
Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 40 lbs (cases, ice, glassware) and stay on your feet for 6+ hours in a loud, fast environment.
Speed: Ability to move quickly and safely in tight spaces behind a busy bar.
Availability: Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Attitude: A "team-first" mentality and a desire to learn the craft of bartending.
Legal: Must meet the minimum age requirement to work in a bar environment (19).
