JOB SUMMARY

Parish Episcopal School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in promoting the health and well-being of students, ensuring a safe and supportive environment conducive to learning. This position requires a strong background in nursing, along with experience working with children in various educational settings. This is a part-time afterschool position five days a week, beginning August 19, 2026, (2.5hrs/day).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide first aid and emergency care to students as needed.
  • Administer medications and manage health plans for students with chronic conditions.
  • Conduct health screenings and assessments to monitor student health.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and healthcare providers to support student health needs.
  • Educate students on health-related topics, including hygiene, nutrition, and wellness.
  • Maintain accurate health records and documentation in compliance with school policies.
  • Support special education initiatives by addressing the unique health needs of students.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to promote a positive school environment.
  • Participate in school events, including sports activities and camps, to ensure student safety.
  • Provide guidance on childhood development and early childhood education principles.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • Current RN or LVN licensure in State of Texas
  • Current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation program completion
  • Experience in pediatric nursing and/or experience as a school nurse preferred
  • Computer literacy and competency in use of existing technology required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Regularly works in standard office conditions and climate.
• Regularly uses close and distance vision; ability to observe students from various distances.
• Frequently required to move around the campus/classroom/playground.
• Ability to occasionally move items weighing up to 30lbs. across the campus/classroom/playground.
• Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with students, fellow staff and community members.
