We’re seeking an experienced HR Generalist to lead HR for a growing manufacturing company in Fenton. This role reports directly to the President and is ideal for someone with strong organizational and leadership skills. Accounting knowledge is a plus.
Human Resources Responsibilities
Administer all HR functions for approximately 40 employees while maintaining strict confidentiality of employee information, including pay rates, medical concerns, and other privileged data. Oversee day-to-day HR operations, implement personnel policies, ensure compliance, and participate in coaching, corrective action, and termination processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Track HR-related KPIs and generate monthly reports.
- Participate in organizational cost-saving initiatives.
- Respond to employment verification inquiries and unemployment claims.
- Create new employee files and maintain employee records and confidential documents in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Manage administration of personnel and payroll functions, including salary changes, wage reviews, absences, PTO, and holidays.
- Manage time-clock software and oversee payroll processing; distribute weekly time cards for managerial approval, reconcile hours, and enter data into the Access/Pinner database.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date absence records.
- Assist the Production Manager with OSHA policies, procedures, and safety compliance.
- Coordinate the on boarding process for all new employees.
- Prepare and administer benefits during open enrollment.
- Administer FMLA and COBRA programs.
- Oversee and manage performance review processes.
- Review and analyze job descriptions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Update and revise the employee handbook as necessary.
- Advise and counsel employees and management regarding HR compliance, personnel issues, and company procedures.
- Create job postings and manage updates to job advertisements.
- Maintain an up-to-date employee contact list and update the company calendar.
- Assist with the preparation of letters, spreadsheets, sales contracts, reports, and special projects.
- Ensure compliance with and enforcement of all company policies.
Experience & Qualifications
- 2–5 years of Human Resources experience.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, including word processing, file management, records maintenance, and general office systems, terminology and Employee Navigator Software
- Degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Understanding of business and management principles related to strategic planning and the coordination of people and resources.
- Strong command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, composition, and professional communication.
