Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A leading educational institution in Duluth, MN is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support the communication needs within the school environment. This role requires effective facilitation of communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, educators, and staff to ensure an inclusive and accessible learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and clear sign language interpretation in classroom settings, meetings, and school events.
- Facilitate communication between students with hearing impairments and other individuals in various school settings.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support instructional strategies and student needs.
- Participate in school-related travel to ensure consistent support across multiple locations as needed.
- Uphold confidentiality and professionalism while fostering an inclusive educational environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting skills.
- Experience working in educational settings preferred.
- Ability to travel as required for assignments within the school district.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to maintaining ethical standards and continuous professional development.
