Job Description
Job DescriptionStep into a pivotal, life-changing role as a Travel Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery in State College, Pennsylvania. This is your opportunity to bring expert care, calm leadership, and compassionate expertise to mothers and newborns during one of the most meaningful moments of their lives. You’ll become part of a multidisciplinary team that values precision, empathy, and continuous learning, delivering high-quality obstetric care in a setting that blends academic excellence with small-town warmth. As you embark on this journey starting March 15, 2026, you’ll have the chance to apply advanced L&D skills, collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff, and influence outcomes through vigilant fetal monitoring, patient education, and evidence-based practices. Beyond the bedside, you’ll discover the beauty of Pennsylvania—the rolling hills of central PA, intimate community events, and easy access to outdoor adventures, historic towns, and scenic getaways that enrich your life outside the job.
Location Benefits: State College offers a welcoming, family-friendly environment anchored by the renowned Penn State community, a vibrant downtown, and a culture of innovation in healthcare. Working here means balancing professional growth with rich experiences in a region known for its natural beauty and four seasons of outdoor recreation. You’ll enjoy the opportunity to operate within a dynamic healthcare network that embraces teaching hospitals, advanced technology, and patient-centered care. For clinicians who love variety, there’s the appeal of working in different partner facilities across the U.S., gaining exposure to diverse obstetric protocols, patient populations, and clinical challenges that deepen expertise and resilience. From tranquil state parks and scenic trails to cultural amenities and top-tier educational resources, Pennsylvania invites you to recharge, explore, and bring fresh perspectives back to the delivery room. In addition, you’ll be connected to a national team that supports travel nurses with 24/7 access to assistance, ensuring you feel secure and empowered as you navigate a new community and clinical environment.
Role Specifics and Benefits: As an L&D RN on assignment, you’ll lead and support labor and delivery care across a spectrum of obstetric scenarios. Key responsibilities include continuous fetal monitoring, triage and admission management, assisting with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections, enabling epidural and analgesia processes in collaboration with anesthesia teams, and providing skilled postpartum care and newborn assessments. You’ll educate families on birth plans, breastfeeding, recovery expectations, and newborn care, while documenting meticulously in electronic health records and participating in unit-based quality improvement initiatives. The role offers meaningful professional growth: expand competencies in high-risk obstetrics, neonatal resuscitation, lactation support, and care coordination for anticipated early discharges or extended hospital stays. The position includes a competitive compensation package with weekly pay ranging from $2,025 to $2,158, based on experience and assignment specifics, and guaranteed hours of 36 per week. You’ll also receive housing assistance to simplify relocation, with additional stipend opportunities to offset travel and living costs. A sign-on bonus may be available, and there are extension opportunities to continue your impact with the same or partnered facilities. Perhaps most importantly, you’ll benefit from a robust support system designed for travel clinicians: 24/7 assistance from our dedicated team, on-call clinical leads, access to credentialing support, orientation programs, and a community of peers who understand the unique rhythms of travel nursing. Start date is set for March 15, 2026, with flexible duration in weeks to align with project needs and your personal goals, plus options to extend to ongoing assignments as you grow with the network.
Company Values: Our organization is built on empowering staff to grow into leadership roles while maintaining a supportive, inclusive, and safety-centered work environment. We are committed to career advancement, investing in continuing education, certifications, and specialty training that align with your aspirations. You’ll join a culture that respects your expertise and provides mentorship, collaborative problem-solving, and transparent communication. We believe in recognizing and rewarding excellence, fostering a climate where nurses feel valued, secure, and excited to contribute to patient families’ most meaningful moments. The commitment to patient safety, evidence-based practice, and compassionate care is woven into every shift, every chart, and every collaboration.
Call to Action: If you’re a dedicated RN with obstetric experience and a passion for delivering exceptional maternal-newborn outcomes, this is your moment to apply. Embrace the chance to grow clinically, lead with confidence, and experience the rich life that Pennsylvania and our national travel team offer. Apply now to join a company that champions your professional development, supports your mobility, and values your contributions on every level. Note: The hours and pay rates listed are estimates and may vary. Final compensation packages and guaranteed hours will be confirmed during the hiring process.
