Compensation:

Salary Range: $78,750 - $131,250

Bonus: 15% Target

Job Description

About this job:

We are seeking in our Minnesota office a Managed Care Underwriter who will work on a team responsible for producing a profitable book of Health business. Responsibilities will include:

  • Perform underwriting and risk assessment for a suite of Health products, including HMO Reinsurance, Provider Excess and Medical Excess
  • Management of key external stakeholder relationships, including brokers and clients
  • Accountable for thorough communication and explanation of all underwriting decisions
  • Essure PartnerRe competitiveness with peers in industry, while ensuring compliance with established guidelines and controls
  • Collaborate with a team of underwriters, nurses, actuaries, and claims examiners while developing appropriate terms for renewal clients and new prospects
  • Contribute to continuous improvement within the underwriting team
  • Participation on internal and external audits as required
  • Assists with maintaining and updating underwriting manuals as needed

Qualifications

About you:

  • Strong understanding of the financial impact of underwriting decisions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to negotiate while managing competing priorities
  • Ability to work independently within a team environment
  • Thinks curiously and seeks continuous learning
  • Ability to think strategically, effectively assess risk and make solid data-driven decisions, as well as effectively communicate those decisions

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Previous health reinsurance underwriting experience is a plus
  • Experience working in matrix organizations an asset
