Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field, active Deaf & Hard of Hearing (DHH) certification, and 1+ years Deaf & Hard of Hearing Specialist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-time teaching opportunity is available for a certified Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to work within a K-12 educational setting in Brooklyn, NY. This position is a contract role for the 2025-2026 school year, beginning on September 2, 2025, and concluding on June 24, 2026.

Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Delivering specialized instruction tailored to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across K-12 grade levels
  • Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet diverse student needs
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including speech therapists, audiologists, and general education staff
  • Monitoring student progress and adjusting teaching strategies accordingly
  • Supporting social and emotional development while fostering a positive learning environment

Qualifications and desired experience:

  • Valid NYSED certification as a Teacher of the Deaf
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct and engage Deaf/Hard of Hearing students effectively
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and communication methods relevant to Deaf education
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience working in K-12 settings preferred
