Job Description
Job Description Role purpose
Deliver design-compliant performance of commercial and residential HVAC systems by executing precise testing, adjusting, and balancing activities and producing thorough documentation aligned with recognized TAB standards.
Core responsibilities
- Conduct air and hydronic balancing to meet design criteria and occupant comfort.
- Verify and optimize airflow, pressure, and temperature across fans, diffusers, dampers, pumps, and coils.
- Operate manometers, airflow hoods, anemometers, tachometers, and flow meters to quantify performance.
- Interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, specifications, air distribution diagrams, and control sequences.
- Capture readings, list deficiencies, and issue final TAB reports with corrective recommendations as needed.
- Identify installation issues, controls malfunctions, and design variances; escalate and resolve with stakeholders.
- Coordinate on site with project managers, mechanical contractors, and commissioning agents.
- Maintain and calibrate test equipment according to schedule.
- Execute work in compliance with NEBB, AABC, or TABB requirements.
- Adhere to company and site safety policies at all times.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED (required); HVAC trade/technical schooling (preferred).
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in HVAC testing, balancing, or mechanical service.
- Preferred certifications: NEBB, AABC, or TABB; OSHA 10/30; EPA 608 or equivalent.
Technical competencies
- Hands-on proficiency with airflow/pressure instrumentation.
- Working knowledge of HVAC system operation and controls.
- Ability to read mechanical plans and duct/piping layouts.

Working environment
- Field role across construction sites, existing facilities, and industrial locations.
- Travel to various job sites; occasional overtime or weekend work may be necessary.
