The Director of Early Education Services is integral to CSCs success. This role leads, manages, and develops the preschool program, program budgets, program management systems, and management staff to assure full compliance with applicable NAEYC, Middle States, Head Start and PDE/OCDEL standards and regulations. The Director of Early Education Services also designs, analyzes, and reports on child and family outcomes and ensures consistency of the Agencys mission, objectives, and philosophy for center-based Early Education to achieve school readiness goals for preschool children and their families. This position oversees education staff members in classrooms and directly supervises three Assistant Directors of Early Education. The Director of Early Education Services reports to the Vice President of Preschool Services.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Early Education program with a strong vision aligned with best practices in early learning.
- Plan, formulate, and oversee implementation of work goals, policies, procedures, and activities designed to improve performance.
- Lead the development and implementation of a high quality, responsive, integrated, developmentally appropriate program and curriculum that responds to each enrolled child, fosters social-emotional development, successful transitions and achievement of school readiness goals.
- Design and ensure the maintenance of a record keeping and reporting system for Early Education.
- Evaluate Early Education services to make service improvements including integration of recommendations from analysis of child outcome data.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional growth among staff.
- Develop staff structures for Early Education services and assure the implementation of personnel management systems within the service area.
- Support the Early Education team in planning, documentation, and continuous improvement of classroom practices.
- Collaborate with Family Engagement, Health Services, Enrollment, Data, Transportation, and EHS teams to ensure comprehensive support for children and families.
- Develop, administer, and monitor budgets for Early Education services and initiatives.
- Work closely with the Director of Quality Assurance to monitor the quality environmental health and safety of all classrooms - indoor as well as outdoor child spaces - through the ongoing monitoring, tracking, and reporting of industry standards and safety regulations.
- Supervise and conduct performance appraisals of designated staff.
- Participate in collaborative leadership teams with collaboration partners including school districts and Intermediate Units.
- Lead the development of Early Education resources and systems to use these resources, and initiate research on current educational philosophy for integration into programming for best practice in Early Childhood Development.
- Develop innovative service approaches, service expansions, and new programs within the mission of the agency.
- Act as an integral member of the Head Start/Early Head Start leadership team to coordinate and plan across service areas and integrate service approaches across service areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, Masters Degree preferred.
- Deep knowledge of early childhood curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment.
- Five years of experience in Early Childhood Education and Educational Leadership.
- Demonstrated competence in leadership, management, staff development, and supervision.
- Valid driver license, car insurance, and use of car and ability to travel out of state for meetings and/or professional development sessions.
- Ability to use technology for tracking, reporting, and monitoring systems.
