Paraprofessional (Instructional Aide)
• Location: Walker County, Georgia
• City: LaFayette, Georgia
• Position Type: Per Diem (or As Needed)
• Pay: $15 / hour (varies by district and experience)
Position Summary:
• Supports certified teachers in delivering instructional services to students
• Assists with academic instruction, behavior management, and student supervision
• Helps create a positive and effective learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist teachers with implementing lesson plans and instructional activities
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students
• Support students with special needs (academic, behavioral, physical)
• Reinforce learning concepts introduced by the teacher
• Monitor and manage student behavior in accordance with school policies
• Assist with classroom preparation, organization, and instructional materials
• Supervise students during recess, lunch, field trips, and transitions
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior
• Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and occasionally parents/guardians
• Support a safe and inclusive classroom environment
Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED (required)
• One of the following:
○ Completion of at least 60 college credit hours, OR
○ Associate’s degree or higher, OR
○ Passing score on the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment
• Experience working with children or in an educational setting (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Basic understanding of child development and instructional strategies
• Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with teachers
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience, flexibility, and reliability
• Ability to manage student behavior positively
• Basic clerical and organizational skills
Working Conditions:
• Classroom and outdoor school environments
• May include working with students with physical or behavioral challenges
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and light lifting
Certifications & Requirements (Georgia):
• Compliance with Georgia Department of Education paraprofessional requirements
• Criminal background check and fingerprinting clearance
• TB screening (may be required by district)
CPR/First Aid certification (may be required by district)>
