Position Summary

The Fire Sprinkler Installation Apprentice assists with the installation, repair, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems in commercial and industrial buildings. This entry-level position provides hands-on training and an opportunity to learn the fire protection trade while working under the supervision of experienced Sprinkler Fitters and Foremen.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation of fire sprinkler piping, fittings, valves, hangers, and related components.
  • Load, unload, organize, and transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites.
  • Measure, cut, thread, groove, and prepare pipe for installation.
  • Assist in reading blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support testing, inspection, and troubleshooting of installed sprinkler systems.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Work closely with project teams to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
  • Attend safety meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous construction experience is a plus but not required.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn a skilled trade.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math calculations.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and elevated surfaces.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
