Position Summary
The Fire Sprinkler Installation Apprentice assists with the installation, repair, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems in commercial and industrial buildings. This entry-level position provides hands-on training and an opportunity to learn the fire protection trade while working under the supervision of experienced Sprinkler Fitters and Foremen.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation of fire sprinkler piping, fittings, valves, hangers, and related components.
- Load, unload, organize, and transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites.
- Measure, cut, thread, groove, and prepare pipe for installation.
- Assist in reading blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Support testing, inspection, and troubleshooting of installed sprinkler systems.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely and effectively.
- Work closely with project teams to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
- Attend safety meetings and training sessions as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous construction experience is a plus but not required.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn a skilled trade.
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math calculations.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Ability to work on ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and elevated surfaces.
- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in confined spaces.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
