Job Description:
We are collaborating with a client in Gouverneur New York, who is currently seeking a professional to fill the role of Health & Safety Coordinator at its mining operation.
Relocation assistance is provided.
Responsibilities:
- Focus on workplace safety and compliance of procedures and MSHA regulations
- Develop, implement, and improve safety policies, procedures, and programs as needed
- Provide safety training & education
- Conduct risk assessments
- Inspect work environments underground and on the surface
- Investigate accidents
- Accompany MSHA on quarterly inspections or other site visits
- Evaluate and recommend control measures to minimize risk
- Stay informed of MSHA regulations along with other federal, state, and local H&S regulations
- Schedule annual required physicals and hearing tests
- Assist with weekly and monthly H&S reporting
- Maintain accurate and organized records of training, inspections, investigations, and other required records
- Work with all departments of the business to promote a positive safety culture
- Other reasonable duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of health and safety experience
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and stay organized
- Ability to use computer for written communication, tracking, and submitting reports
- Experience in workplace safety and
- compliance of procedures and MSHA regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Skilled in written and verbal communication (in English)
- Mining industry experience preferred
- MSHA Trainer Certification preferred
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US.
