SmileHQ is a growing, technology-forward multi-location dental and orthodontics group practice serving patients in the DC metro area. We combine modern clinical protocols, advanced imaging technology, and a patient-first culture to deliver exceptional care. We are currently expanding our team at our Glenn Dale, MD location and seeking a skilled Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) to join us immediately.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) is responsible for delivering preventive dental care, performing periodontal assessments, educating patients on oral hygiene, and collaborating with the dental team on comprehensive treatment planning. This role is available as full-time or part-time and offers immediate start for qualified candidates.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform thorough dental hygiene examinations including periodontal charting, oral cancer screenings, and radiographic assessments
- Provide prophylaxis, scaling and root planing (SRP), and other periodontal therapy procedures
- Capture and document intraoral camera images and digital X-rays using practice management software
- Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques, periodontal health, and individualized home care regimens
- Co-diagnose with the dentist and present findings to patients in a clear, patient-centered manner
- Document clinical findings accurately in electronic health records (EHR/PMS)
- Maintain infection control and OSHA compliance standards at all times
- Collaborate with front desk and clinical team to optimize patient scheduling and flow
- Participate in morning huddles and contribute to a positive, communicative team environment
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Active Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in the State of Maryland must be in good standing
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Experience with digital radiography and intraoral cameras
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) or dental practice management software (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar)
- Strong patient communication and education skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative clinical team
- High attention to detail and commitment to infection control protocols
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with CBCT imaging, iTero digital scanning, or Pearl AI diagnostic tools
- Periodontal therapy experience including scaling and root planing (SRP)
- Familiarity with co-diagnosis workflows and case acceptance strategies
- Local anesthesia certification in Maryland
- Multi-site or group practice experience
