Robert Half Contracts Finance and Accounting is seeking a Jr Staff Accountant to join a great construction and Home Building firm in Roseville.
The Junior Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting the finance team in managing day-to-day accounting functions. This includes handling accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), bank reconciliations, and assisting with audit preparation. This role requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable (AP):
Process vendor invoices and employee expense reports
Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices
Ensure timely payments and resolve vendor discrepancies
Accounts Receivable (AR):
Generate and send customer invoices
Record customer payments and follow up on outstanding balances
Reconcile AR subledger to general ledger
Bank Reconciliations:
Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
Investigate and resolve discrepancies
Audit Preparation:
Assist in gathering and organizing financial documents for audits
Prepare schedules and reports required by auditors
Support internal controls and compliance initiatives
General Accounting Support:
Assist in month-end close processes
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
Support other ad hoc projects as needed
This is a full-time job, 40 hours a week onsite that would start right away. The ideal candidate would have 1-2 years of GAAP accounting, basic bookkeeping and AP/AR experience and work well with learning new software's and working in a fast-paced environment.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in accounting, including exposure to accounts payable and receivable.
• Proficiency in performing bank reconciliations and maintaining general ledger accuracy.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as SAGE, QuickBooks, or SAP.
• Strong understanding of journal entries and month-end closing procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment.
• Solid organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new software tools and systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred but not required.
