Job DescriptionSalary: $20 -$35 Hour DOE
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Builds the framework of a building or structure, including walls and roofs, according to blueprints and specifications.
- Measures and cuts materials such as lumber and plywood to the appropriate size and angle.
- Sets and braces building components to ensure they are level and secure.
- Installs insulation and vapor barriers to meet energy efficiency standards.
- Collaborates with other tradespeople such as electricians and plumbers to ensure proper installation of utilities.
- Operates hand and power tools safely and efficiently to complete construction tasks.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area, and ensures that tools and equipment are in good working condition.
- Follows safety regulations and practices in order to prevent accidents or injury on the job.
- Communicates with supervisors and project managers regarding progress and any issues that may arise.
- Ensures that the final product meets quality standards and is completed within the agreed-upon timeframe.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Carpentry Skills: Proficient in using hand and power tools, with a strong understanding of carpentry techniques and practices.
- Mathematical Ability: Capable of performing calculations to determine material quantities and dimensions accurately.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on precision to ensure that forms are level, plumb, and square.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials and working in various weather conditions.
- Blueprint Reading: Familiarity with reading and interpreting construction blueprints and local building codes.
Work Environment
Framing carpenters typically work on construction sites, which may involve outdoor work in varying weather conditions. The job can be labor-intensive, requiring the ability to lift heavy materials and work at heights using scaffolding.
Most jobs are local in the Coeur d Alene, Idaho / Spokane Washington Region . Some regional travel may be required dependent on projects.
