SUMMARY
The assistant buyer assists in activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, parts, supplies. The assistant buyer is responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated with the company's needs for indirect materials and services, fixed assets and tooling, and select production materials and services. These products and services are to be secured at cost quality and at delivery competitive levels consistent with company policy and performance standards.

- Initiates purchase orders and amendments for parts, services and/or special tools; arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required; maintains close coordination with plant engineering to ensure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities.
- Secures and analyzes quotations, negotiates prices and terms with suppliers, and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness for assigned
- Studies market prices and trends, engineering developments, and manufacturing method improvements applicable to assigned responsibilities; advises company activities with concurrence of a Purchasing Supervisor or Manager
- Interviews and confers with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics inventory control and management; negotiates prices and delivery terms with guidance from a Purchasing Supervisor or Manager for assigned responsibilities.
- Coordinates the planning of recent schedules and inventory control parameters for the assigned products and services consistent with MAPICS requirements or as arranged with requisitions.
- Coordinates as appropriate quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company activities and suppliers.
- Organizes and implements with direction from a Purchasing Supervisor or Manager strategies to accomplish small business and disavantaged business sourcing programs consistent with company guidelines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and calculator, ten key by touch.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk; or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to l O pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

Some travel may be expected for this position.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Experience and successful at completion of the Purchasing process.
Proficient in computer applications pertinent to support the position, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and accounting software.
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business or Accounting 2-to-3 years of related experience
Pay Range: $20-$26/Hourly
