Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This role is for a visually impaired teacher serving students in the Denver area, specifically within Aurora Public Schools. The position supports students with visual impairments across various school assignments throughout the district. While specific campuses and full/part-time status are yet to be finalized, the role offers opportunities to work with a diverse age group of students during the 2026-2027 academic year, from August through May.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing tailored instruction and support to students with visual impairments
  • Collaborating with school staff and families to develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Utilizing specialized teaching methods and adaptive technologies to enhance learning
  • Conducting assessments and monitoring student progress
  • Participating in ongoing professional development and district meetings

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Certification in Teaching Visually Impaired Students
  • Completion of district-required background check and fingerprinting
  • Experience levels from novice to veteran teachers considered, with pay scales reflective of experience from 0 to 10+ years
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Commitment to student growth and inclusion

Location and Work Environment:

  • Onsite position based in the Denver metropolitan area with travel within Aurora Public Schools as assignments require
  • Hours per week to be determined based on district needs and caseload
