Overview
The Medical Assistant assists nurses with the delivery of patient care by maintaining clinic flow and obtaining routine clinical information on patients. Performs / assists with routine physical care of patients, obtains and maintains clinic supplies, provides light clinical assistant.
Monday through Friday, 8AM-4:30PM.
Responsibilities
- Introduces self to patient/family placing them at ease with upcoming procedures, exams, etc.
- Obtains patient vital signs (height, weight, temperature, head circumference 24 month of age) and charts in the EMR.
- Recognizes variance from normal and reports to RN.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the policies and procedures required by the job including but not limited to:
-Escorts patient/family to exam room/ancillary departments.
-Prepares patient for exam or procedure (e.g. gown, shorts, casting needs).
-Competent in application of orthotics with RN supervision.
-Assists RNs and physicians in cast removal and application procedures.
-Assists physicians while examining patients when RNs are unavailable.
This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma / GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
Preferred:
- Two years' experience as a Medical Assistant
- One year electronic medical record experience and/or medical terminology
