The RN First Assist plays a vital role in perioperative nursing by supporting surgeons during surgical procedures, especially in the fields of orthopedics, neurology, and general surgery. Candidates must possess a minimum of two years of intraoperative experience, hold a valid RN license, and have certifications such as CNOR and RN-First Assistant. Utilizing the nursing process, you will deliver exceptional patient care while maintaining accountability for the care provided to your assigned patients. You will assess the effectiveness of care delivered by other caregivers and coordinate patient care in collaboration with various departments. Upholding patient rights and ensuring confidentiality of patient information are essential aspects of this role. - Location: Operating Room at our facility in St. Louis
- Role: Registered Nurse (RN) - First Assistant CALL POSITION
- Experience Required: RNFA experience with a minimum of 2 years in the field!
About Us:
Our Operating Room handles a diverse range of cases, including Orthopedics, Neurology, and General Services. RNs are typically assigned to specific specialty pods, with opportunities for cross-training in other areas within the department.
The RN First Assistant is responsible for practicing perioperative nursing and has gained the necessary knowledge, skills, and judgment through structured training and supervised practice to assist the surgeon during operations. The intraoperative tasks performed by the RN First Assistant must be overseen by a surgeon.
Qualifications:

Licensure: RN License in the state of Missouri

Experience: A minimum of 2 years of intraoperative experience is required

Certifications:

CNOR and RN-First Assistant certification must be obtained within one year of hire or transfer.

BLS/ACLS certification is required within the first year.

Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Preferred Certifications: CNOR, CRNFA
