Carlsbad, CA (Onsite - 5 Days per Week)
Pay Range: $63.54 - $74.49 per hour
About the Role
We are seeking a strategic, data-driven Portfolio Financial & Strategic Planning Analyst to support cross-functional project and R&D initiatives throughout the full project lifecycle. This highly collaborative role partners with Project Management, Finance, and functional leaders to develop budgets, resource plans, forecasts, and long-term portfolio strategies.
This is an onsite position in Carlsbad, CA (5 days per week).

What You'll Do
- Partner with Project Managers and functional leaders to build and manage project and portfolio budgets
- Support Annual Planning, Quarterly Forecasting, and long-range (5-Year) strategic planning
- Analyze portfolio financial performance including forecasting, variance analysis, and actuals tracking
- Develop headcount reporting and resource allocation models
- Use data and analytics to support strategic portfolio decisions
- Identify financial, capacity, or budget risks and collaborate on resolution strategies
- Develop and improve portfolio management processes, metrics, and best practices
- Create executive-level presentations and financial models for senior leadership
- Contribute to the implementation of portfolio and financial management systems
- Support additional strategic business initiatives as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of Project, Site, or Operations Management experience
OR
Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience - At least 2 years of experience in:
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Finance/accounting principles
- Data analysis and metrics development
- Continuous improvement initiatives
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a matrixed organization
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with portfolio planning tools such as Planisware PPMS or AI-based portfolio analytics tools
- Background supporting R&D or technical organizations
- Experience in medical device, life sciences, or regulated industries
- Experience acting as an internal consultant supporting business stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business strategies
