We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Tig Welder for our large aerospace facility located in Los Alamitos, CA. This union position is for the 1st shift (6am-2:30pm) with a potential shift change to 2nd shift, so candidates must be open to 2nd shift as well. The role involves welding aerospace products, setting up and operating welding machines, and following manufacturing processes and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate welding machines without technical assistance.
- Follow manufacturing processes and procedures per MEP 1000-01.
- Perform at an acceptable quality and productivity level on all welding assignments.
- Execute tasks as assigned by shop management.
- Weld metal thicknesses from 0.010 to .250 inch.
- Direct and advise major maintenance on welding equipment.
- Direct and advise procurement of consumables for welding equipment.
- Assist, advise, and share job knowledge with other welders.
- Develop new weld schedules for welding machines as required by shop management or manufacturing engineering.
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications necessary to perform welding tasks correctly.
- Recognize welding problems, troubleshoot and correct them accordingly.
Essential Skills
- Aerospace tig welding experience.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in GTAW (preferred in aerospace).
- In-depth knowledge of all aspects of GTAW processes.
- Ability to weld manually and operate mechanized welding equipment (e.g., circumferential positioners and longitudinal seamer).
- Capability to set up GTAW equipment and weld tooling.
- Proficiency in interpreting weld symbols, engineering drawings, and specifications.
- Ability to recognize, troubleshoot, and correct welding problems.
- Interpretation of blueprints, work orders, and production planning documents.
- Use of standard manufacturing measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, pin calipers, micrometers, tape measures, scales, height gauges, depth gauges).
- Capability of working with tight tolerances such as + or - .002”.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with heliarc, welding, fabrication, blueprints, GTAW, TIG welding.
- Experience with inspection, thin-wall, thin gauge, tubing, x-ray, titanium, and inconel materials.

Work Environment
Work in a large manufacturing aerospace company with a team of 500 employees. This is a union shop with a structured work environment. The role is for the 1st shift (6am to 2:30pm) at a pay rate of $38.48 per hour. There is a potential for this position to move to the 2nd shift.

This is a Permanent position based out of Los Alamitos, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80038.40 - $80038.40/yr.
Union position (must pay dues= $300 initiation paid over $100 installments and then $88.25 a month from there)
